Helpful Information regarding our department
IF I AM BONDING SOMEONE OUT, CAN I USE A CREDIT OR DEBIT CARD OR DO I HAVE TO HAVE CASH?
Richardson county Jail has a kiosk provided by Combined Public Communications in our Lobby. It accepts both cash and most major credit cards. There is a $3.25 fee for cash transactions and a $3.25 fee or 10% of the transaction (whichever is higher) for card transactions, these fees are not assessed by the Sheriff's office or Jail, they are assessed by the vendor. So yes, we do accept credit or debit cards for bonds. The system however does not accept Cash App or Venmo cards.
I WAS IN A CAR ACCIDENT YESTERDAY, I NEED A COPY OF THE ACCIDENT OR POLICE REPORT.
Accident reports are availible to the reporting parties and insurance companies for a $3.00 fee. However the officers have up to 10 days to complete them. Please consider that the officers have other cases and will complete them in a timely fashion.
IF I AM BONDING SOMEONE OUT AND I WANT THE BOND TO COME BACK TO ME, WHAT DO I DO?
This is a common mistake payee's make when bonding out someone out. They assume just because they paid at the kiosk the bond is automatically assigned to them. However, you have to go to the Jail information window and request for this to be done. There is another section on the Offenders bond form that has to be filled out with the payee's name and address and the offender has to sign off on it.
I WAS IN A DISPUTE AND WANT A COPY OF THE OFFICERS REPORT.
Copies of officers case files must be requested through the Richardson County Attorney's Office located at Weaver and Merz law office (402) 245-3222, 1719 Stone St, Falls City, Ne 68355.
I WAS AN ACTIVE DEFENDANT IN A CASE WHERE MY PROPERTY WAS TAKEN AS EVIDENCE AND I WANT IT BACK BECAUSE THE CASE IS FINISHED.
All evidence releases have to come from the Richardson County Attorneys Office. The Sheriffs office can not release evidence without an order from the court or a letter from the county attorney stating that it is to be released to a specific subject or party. I FEEL AS THOUGH I WAS STOPPED BY AN OFFICER FOR NO REASON OR AM BEING HARRASSED BY AN OFFICER.
The Richardson County Sheriff's Office takes officer misconduct very seriously.
